Intro to Products

STYRENE MONOMER

Styrene Monomer is produced by the dehydrogenation of ethyl benzene following the synthesis of ethyl benzene with ethylene and benzene through catalytic reaction. It is a colorless liquid with an odor, and is used as the raw material of Polystyrene(PS), Synthetic Resin(ABS) and Synthetic Rubbers(SBR), etc.

CAS number : 100-42-5 / Molecular formula : C8H8

Plant processes

This plant uses benzene and ethylene as feedstock to ethyl benzene through alkylation, and dehydrogenates this ethyl benzene to produce styrene monomers.

  • Ethyl Benzene Manufacturing Unit
This unit consists of the reaction system that produces ethyl benzene and by products through the catalytic reaction between benzene and ethylene; the refining system that fractionates high-purity ethyl Benzene from unresponsive ethylene, benzene and other by products and the regenerating system that regenerates the reactor catalyst.
  • Styrene Monomer Manufacturing Unit
This unit consists of the reaction system that passes the ethyl benzene, produced by the ethyl benzene manufacturing unit, through the fixed-bed catalytic layer, using high-temperature diluted steam for dehydrogenation, and the refining system that fractionates high-purity styrene monomer from crude styrene coming from the reactor (intermediate product).
Product uses

This product is used for various synthetic resins such as polystyrene(PS), styrene butadiene rubber(SBR), paints, and synthetic rubber raw materials.

  • Polystyrene(PS)
