The plant with the facilities for cracking naphtha at a high temperature in excess of 800 degrees Celsius to produce petrochemical feedstocks like ethylene, propylene, mixed-C4 and pyrolysis gasoline (PG), is called the naphtha cracking center or naphtha cracking plant.
If naphtha, connected by 5~12 carbon chains, is inputted into the heater at a high temperature in excess of 800 degrees Celsius, the carbon chains are cracked, and mainly light hydrocarbon mixtures (hydrogen, methane, ethylene, propylene, propane, mixed-C4, pyrolysis gasoline) with 1~4 carbons will be generated (about 75%).
Accordingly, it refers to a place (center) with the facilities for cracking naphtha to produce basic petrochemical feedstock. It is called the Naphtha Cracking Center or Naphtha Cracking Plant.
As technology advances, not only naphtha, but also diesel (Gas Oil) and natural gas are used as feedstock to produce ethylene. Accordingly, the place where ethylene is produced, is called ethylene Plant, instead of naphtha cracking center.
Yeochun NCC calls the ethylene plant, which cracking naphtha to produce ethylene, propylene and propane mixed-C4, the Naphtha Cracking Center.
